In "The Crucible" what is Hale's problem as Proctor and his friends present evidence to Danforth in Act 3?

i believe his problem is that he see's that proctor is innocent and has clear, concise facts, and uses rational thought and logic, but that danforth is unwilling to listen, and remains uncaring. later on, hale realizes how absurd this entire thing is, and begs proctor to lie ans say he was in this conspiracy/ witchcraftery issue. does that help any?? i hope it does, or that some1 else can help u more. hav a great day.
