Question about possibility of Asteroid impacting with Earth...?

Usually we have very little warning of near Earth asteroids. The reason is that they are heading straight towards us, so they don't show up as trails on sky images, so go undetected. When they are detected, it's very hard to calculate their orbits for the same reason: they don't move much across the sky.
