How and what should I write in a letter to the judge requesting different date?

I got a traffic ticket my court date is september 21st. The problem is I will be out of state on sept 14th to sept 24th. I went to the courthouse today to ask them how can i change that date i need a different date he told me to write a letter to the judge. (ps this trip out of state is for fun in florida) Please help me how and what do I say in a letter to the judge to request a different date???? What is a good excuse? I do plan to lie if that will get me out of this crap I am very stressed.
