I connected my wireless router to my computer and modem. it is working for my laptop but not for my desktop?

i just recently purchased a hp pavillion laptop yesterday , and connected a cisco wireless router to my modem , i was wireles in just 5 minutes. but my desktop which is also connected to my the router. is not functioning right. the mouse keyboard and speakers do not work. I just purchased it last year actually. any idea what might be wrong ?
