Does the color really matter in my Lab?

Were getting a new Yellow Lab from a breeder and have a copies of the bloodline. Both the Sir and Dam come from good lines. FC and AFC the grand parents are NAFC and CNAFC Some one told us that the yellow labs wont be good hunting dogs because of the recessive yellow gene Is that true?????? thanks a lot
